During my work as a real estate agent in Puglia, I interact daily with many people from all over the world. One day I receive an email from Gavin, looking for information on some real estate properties between Torre Lapillo and Porto Cesareo. We start conversing online and from there we set up the first meeting. I met Gavin and Sabrina for the first time chatting about real estate investments, vacation rentals, Puglia and… Holland!
Now, their purchase has become a wonderful villa with pool: Villa Palma. The villa is included in our rental portfolio and is available for your holidays in this enchanting corner of Salento. I have the pleasure here to share some words with Gavin and Sabrina.
Hi, let’s start from the beginning: why did you choose Puglia for your real estate investment?
– We love Italy, and have been to several tourist hotspots in the North/Middle of the country, however wanted to try find a town or village with an unspoilt ‘natural Italian feel’ with beautiful beaches and a vibe that touches the soul. With Puglia we found that!
How did you get to Torre Lapillo?
– We spent hours searching for the most beautiful beaches, nature, a little less ‘hectic’, yet with nearby traditional facilities/restaurants/bars (like Porto Cesareo, Nardò etc). Torre Lapillo had this.
What immediately struck you about Villa Palma?
– We looked at many properties with Fabio’s local assistance, and the last one (now Villa Palma) was a contact of his, who might sell. We loved how spacious it is, both inside but also outside in the gardens, which allowed for a new swimming pool. The location is close to all beaches, actually walking distance from the Torre Lapillo town/beach, or you can easily jump in the car to nearby towns and a selection of beaches.
You made a stunning renovation of the property, to position it at a higher level. What do you appreciate most about Villa Palma after the renovations
How spacious and modern it looks, with enough space for the whole family to enjoy the weather and relax in different areas. The pool is a great touch (especially when you want a day to chill without the crowds!)
Now let’s move on to serious things… Can you suggest us a couple of places to eat nearby?
– For lunch we absolutely love a trip into nearby town Guagnano. It very unassuming, typical Puglian village, the restaurant is called L’Orecchietta. Great local fresh food, local wines and staff that are proud of what they have on their doorstep.
Finally, as an Italian I am very interested in your “foreigner” point of view: what is the feature you like most about Puglia?
– Unspoilt nature with its beautiful beaches and amazing food/wines, and affordable.

What ThePuglia Immobiliare did
Our agency worked on two fronts:
– we assisted the old owners in the sale of their property
– we assisted the new owners in the research and correct finalization of the purchase: from real estate due diligence to the signing by the notary
Once the sale was finalized, we collaborated with the new owners to build the swimming pool and new furniture and set-up to best introduce the property to the vacation rental market in Puglia.
It was a fantastic job in which many of our partners also took part, from the builder to the technician, from our fellow real estate agents to our reference home stager and our entire team at ThePuglia Immobiliare.
